Glass façades are indispensable part of modern architecture. Functional glass products are designed to provide variety of functionalities required among which fire resistant glass products are developed to answer an expanded area of safety demands. Especial multilayered glass assemblies with transparent intumescent interlayers swelling up when heated in the event of a fire.
The side facing the flames fractures, but remains in its place. Subsequently the interlayer foams up and provides an insulating obstacle absorbing thermal energy of flames. Protection starts from the early stages of a fire around 120°C.

Fire resistant glass products offered by Venus Glass are produced according to the European and national standards and are capable of providing light, transparency and fire protection for architectural applications. Fire resistant glazing can be classified as the below table:

Class E

This category provides protection against fire and smoke but does not reduce transfer of dangerous radiant heat. It remains transparent in the event of fire.

Class EI

Most protection functionality against fire, smoke and heat radiation from 30 up to 180 minutes.

According to DIN EN 13501-2, behavior of a fire resistant glass can be classified as below.
E = Room closure
When one side exposures to the fire, flames or hot gases do not contribute to the spread of the fire or ignite adjacent materials on the unexposed side.
W = reduced heat transfer
The thermal transmittance or W refers to the ability of a component in reducing the heat radiation from one side to another (I = thermal insulation)
S = limitation of smoke permeability
The smoke leakage S is the ability of a component to reduce or exclude the passage of gas or smoke from one side of the component to another

• UV resistance without prefixed UV filter
• No intrinsic color of the glass panels (no green tint)
• Decorative design options can be offered including laminated glass using color interlayer, printed and sand blasted glass
• Combination with almost all toughened glazing
